Personal Care Attendant Services

PCA Services:  Provide personal care assistance to help persons with day-to-day activities in their home and community.  These services include helping people with personal care and can also help with homemaking type services.  Persons must be eligible to receive Medical Assistance, Minnesota Care Expanded Benefits, or the Alternative Care Program in order to receive these services.

Bathing, grooming, washing
Bowel and bladder care
Dressing and undressing
Exercise and ambulation
Skin care
Meal preparation and feeding
Laundry and light housekeeping
Range of motion exercises
Medication reminders
Transfers
Assistance with activities of daily living

Two service type programs are available including traditional pca services and the pca choice option.

• Traditional PCA Services is where the agency will find, hire, train, schedule and terminate staff.  This agency will also develop care plans for staff to follow as well as monitor and evaluate staff to assure that care plans are carried out.  
• The PCA Choice Options offers persons more independence in managing their personal cares.  This option allows persons to hire, train, schedule, terminate staff  and write their own care plan for their staff to follow. Arise acts as a fiscal intermediary.
  

Waiver Services

Persons with disabilities or chronic illness may qualify for home and community programs called waivers.  Under waiver services, Arise has the ability to provide the following: homemaking, chore, and respite services.  Persons must be eligible to receive Medical Assistance in order to receive this program.  Persons can apply for these programs by contacting their local county social services agency.

Alternative Care Program

This program helps seniors who are 65 and older pay for services similar to waivered services if they meet income and asset guidelines.  Persons can apply for these programs by contacting their local county social services agency.
